Mein Nichte erwartet ihr viertes Kind, wie ich an dieser Stelle bereits berichtet habe. So richtig ausgedehnte Shoppingtouren sind nicht nötig, schließlich ist vom kleinen Luka noch alles vorhanden: Kinderwagen, Kindersitz, Stubenwagen und eine Wickelkommode, die schon seit einem dreiviertel Jahr nicht mehr verwendet wird, weil Luka über einen ausgeprägten Bewegungsdrang verfügt und es schlicht zu gefährlich ist, ihn auf der Wickelkommode zu wickeln.
Auf ein kleines Utensil mag meine Nichte jedoch auf gar keinen Fall verzichten: Den Schnuller. „Zur Beruhigung“, wie meine Nichte versichert. Ich finde hingegen, dass diese Dinger jedes Babygesicht verschandeln und eigentlich nicht nötig sind – es sei denn natürlich, man hat einmal damit angefangen. Wehe, der Luka hat seinen Schnuller nicht. Dann ist er da, der Weltuntergang. Luka brüllt, Mama – oder Großtante – kriechen auf dem Boden herum und suchen nach dem blöden Ding. Und nun will meine Nichte also dem neuen Baby auch den Schnuller angewöhnen.
Wenn ich ihr dann sage, dass das Kind, wenn es denn wirklich saugen möchte, ja immer noch den Daumen nehmen kann, ernte ich entsetzte Blicke: Wie will man den Daumen jemals wieder abgewöhnen, fragt meine Nichte dann. Und außerdem ist Daumenlutschen überhaupt nicht gut für die Zahnstellung, Schnuller sind der Kieferform wesentlich besser angepasst.
Ich weiß ja, dass der Schnuller heutzutage ganz normal ist, ich finde trotzdem, dass es auch anders geht. Und Sie, werte Leser? Welche Erfahrungen haben Sie gemacht?
